Hi there! I have LOTS of fun Halloween stuff to post, and I hope you all enjoy it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The pictures aren't in any particular order because I am still not very good at this whole blogging thing, so this may seem a little scattered. Aaaaanyway, the theme this year was Circus/carnival, and I had alot of fun with this one. I tried to go a little vintage, and included a 'cabinet of curiosities', 'kinda like a freak show corner.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9kGdrXH3Qw1ArPF1LLEpivZsIapxb2mJ6WuBJeQCOQjlWoVZp37eH5gR1smHcgTghrsP4adWOdZ7WcpTpHri8zi_rpc2Ci0pmvOWNCExvXObV_YKnok_tgo89Ml_O4nvnC6U47lEHsu4/s1600/Ash+halloween+2012+006+edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" oea="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9kGdrXH3Qw1ArPF1LLEpivZsIapxb2mJ6WuBJeQCOQjlWoVZp37eH5gR1smHcgTghrsP4adWOdZ7WcpTpHri8zi_rpc2Ci0pmvOWNCExvXObV_YKnok_tgo89Ml_O4nvnC6U47lEHsu4/s320/Ash+halloween+2012+006+edit.jpg" width="144" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
That was alot of fun... filling the jars with yucky things, and having a place for all my miss-matched Halloween stuff. We played a guessing game for the candy you see there, and whoever guessed the closest the the actual number won the candy jar. We had some great guessing... or maybe I'm just really bad at it, so everyones guessing seems very accurate.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBMNFJwxlKLtPaHyrXGjcm6zgBb6uV40ZoKgXUAlHqqFXeShBhNdfIR-I_yKb4ipy-RVPTWR3fMWjJeB2EPG_n22V3VpMnebxN4rL7ggHoSNA9NIgam5v3Fy1nUHwYQ2GK4JScu75EDIU/s1600/Ash+halloween+2012+014+edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" oea="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBMNFJwxlKLtPaHyrXGjcm6zgBb6uV40ZoKgXUAlHqqFXeShBhNdfIR-I_yKb4ipy-RVPTWR3fMWjJeB2EPG_n22V3VpMnebxN4rL7ggHoSNA9NIgam5v3Fy1nUHwYQ2GK4JScu75EDIU/s320/Ash+halloween+2012+014+edit.jpg" width="159" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is me, working on the food. I was a tattooed lady, and Doug was a tattooed man. It was alot of fun, and I learned that fake tattoos come off with clear scotch tape... WAY easier than scrubbing with mineral oil. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I made home-made corndogs for dinner and fried them fresh (thank you Lisa for the fryer!). They were SO SO good. I think everyone really enjoyed them. Also had people bring a lot of typical circus fare.... Pretzels, taffy, popcorn, doughnuts, candied nuts, peanuts, apples... it was all really really tasty.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5IJQ9kaSdXziLYXCruEK3O-UZ5k5PE7yu9mBqQEYAtlOZRJuR8OwJUKl94CP3kVXEQg9CCgbV59xl5e8cD5ScewU_eW3VLGNyzhCyi_9L87Mygi0T5XTBrnyZMvLswfkHUuuOrfxKAjk/s1600/Ash+halloween+2012+021edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" oea="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5IJQ9kaSdXziLYXCruEK3O-UZ5k5PE7yu9mBqQEYAtlOZRJuR8OwJUKl94CP3kVXEQg9CCgbV59xl5e8cD5ScewU_eW3VLGNyzhCyi_9L87Mygi0T5XTBrnyZMvLswfkHUuuOrfxKAjk/s320/Ash+halloween+2012+021edit.jpg" width="126" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I spent some time on a directional sign... it wasn't specifically Circus, but I spent so much time on it I didn't want to limit it to one year. Which will seem silly when you see the things I DID do for just this one year... *sigh*.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Anyway, my awesome mom cut the vinyl for the names, and I painted the backgrounds. They are made of particle board that I cut using my circular saw, and the stand I made from scraps around the garage. Not bad, hu? I also tend to collect miss matched lanterns, and found a good use for them. I like the turnout! Doug is afraid it'll be vandalized or stolen off the front porch, but I figure it's too heavy and awkward to try to get away with it... but I guess we'll see!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdkIUTNXvTAQQW54ASG-pExVuVPdRmL_cGj_7IhBOwy-j9XXmh0QBxuwOSH7u_K34Epj7uxWLxX8ujOFIKgSPeip5W4Z1yU2rkc1ekNP_Mwy7ZgwJsbNSKHCgpcI2PgpESTtiEJuHgkAY/s1600/Ash+halloween+2012+027+edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" oea="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdkIUTNXvTAQQW54ASG-pExVuVPdRmL_cGj_7IhBOwy-j9XXmh0QBxuwOSH7u_K34Epj7uxWLxX8ujOFIKgSPeip5W4Z1yU2rkc1ekNP_Mwy7ZgwJsbNSKHCgpcI2PgpESTtiEJuHgkAY/s320/Ash+halloween+2012+027+edit.jpg" width="272" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We ended up not really using the props for photos, but it was fun to display them anyway. I used black cardstock to make and cutout props to hold up for photos, and found this really cool sign online (and now I don't remember where, sorry!). It fit perfectly with the theme, and I had fun putting that together. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgA6Gt4HXfqP3jgWYZluraQwVyPxkLM1lWg8xQ6FaT2qAbSmMvvhzwPg8d62JuEBNiQzZuOJUsiUWh9fMBVUHLU2WipnFIepaW-NUMVWSSLYB78lcezC_Sr6isO6Ny9USBA_VFLkXzhUNc/s1600/Ash+halloween+2012+070+edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="199" oea="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgA6Gt4HXfqP3jgWYZluraQwVyPxkLM1lWg8xQ6FaT2qAbSmMvvhzwPg8d62JuEBNiQzZuOJUsiUWh9fMBVUHLU2WipnFIepaW-NUMVWSSLYB78lcezC_Sr6isO6Ny9USBA_VFLkXzhUNc/s320/Ash+halloween+2012+070+edit.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We played doughnuts on a string, and I laugh every time I see this pictures. We only played two rounds, not everyone was up for snarfing a doughnut, but these guys were, and it was too funny to watch, we all cheered for them by the end. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-qZqPOsSzIovT2S-SNQHT6A0k5Mk59L_X29FJwHbebxVCluRfBBB0CE0fwRB4kv62-eioyrAqHOcWMSA9VmvA4dJJzRrFuPxadT2jsTDjZxwxRDOeFt8jnJHD2lP4nCAjz7elNIXQW0A/s1600/Ash+halloween+2012+003+edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" oea="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-qZqPOsSzIovT2S-SNQHT6A0k5Mk59L_X29FJwHbebxVCluRfBBB0CE0fwRB4kv62-eioyrAqHOcWMSA9VmvA4dJJzRrFuPxadT2jsTDjZxwxRDOeFt8jnJHD2lP4nCAjz7elNIXQW0A/s320/Ash+halloween+2012+003+edit.jpg" width="189" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Ok, so like I said, I did end up doing something crazy for just a one time use, and here they are. I made photo board cut-outs for the pictures this year. Just used particle board and painted it using acrylic. Was WAY harder than I had anticipated, and very messy, but I think they turned out great! Really added to the ambiance, and everyone seemed to like them. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgq28onckWQQVfpD6mf1rnGDc6IcFUHZk5LZRq12sqVD-GK_IhYuSj15Co2OPXTsARP-xFjAUKCSu9RRuhIF5cOvFM2EogU0IJGV5Vaunp5nwehNRfrq6NQB4eS4yXyiGTeT7eO9RPOhog/s1600/Ash+halloween+2012+004+edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" oea="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgq28onckWQQVfpD6mf1rnGDc6IcFUHZk5LZRq12sqVD-GK_IhYuSj15Co2OPXTsARP-xFjAUKCSu9RRuhIF5cOvFM2EogU0IJGV5Vaunp5nwehNRfrq6NQB4eS4yXyiGTeT7eO9RPOhog/s320/Ash+halloween+2012+004+edit.jpg" width="193" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I used my jig saw to cut out the faces, and let me tell you, I was SO scared I was gonna totally ruin them. Luckily, that part was easier than anticipated, and they came out smoothly. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiapzShnuvYKaUSgUbxaaI5eClAl7j2OJNF6aGWiJn_ZcXstBnYGwbmkOhN4iKpbsUFI3PuxugXd7Ks5wyhfSnrWwdeGv1PM4PwmoOjZiMP-7JDPxP3sn4aO2Jsd9rXNr1D0IOly8KiP_o/s1600/Dad+doughnut+collage+.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="106" oea="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiapzShnuvYKaUSgUbxaaI5eClAl7j2OJNF6aGWiJn_ZcXstBnYGwbmkOhN4iKpbsUFI3PuxugXd7Ks5wyhfSnrWwdeGv1PM4PwmoOjZiMP-7JDPxP3sn4aO2Jsd9rXNr1D0IOly8KiP_o/s320/Dad+doughnut+collage+.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And here is my awesome dad, winning the first round of doughnut on a string. I wanted to show a play-by-play, I just love the faces he made. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Anyway, I really enjoyed this year's party, I think it was one of the better ones by far. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So any good ideas for next year? I'm leaning towards Zombies... </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

So a friend of mine has just adopted a sweet baby girl they named Millicent Jane. I don't have a picture of her (sorry), but I have some not-as-cute-as-her pictures of the cupcakes I've made for the shower. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I saw this post on one of my FAVORITE blogs:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://annies-eats.com/2009/05/26/butterfly-cupcakes/">http://annies-eats.com/2009/05/26/butterfly-cupcakes/</a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Please keep in mind hers are professional quality, and mine are not.... I did this all with ziplock bags and a fork.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Anyway, They ended up looking fantastic, and I wanted to show you all how I did it. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjREHCVP5dpf6V3P3zFOKPDJ3AJSvroRD-VHPamdB1KhQluhDZo8F7eFqBZVODXBSxNLWHA3sYSQIqod2NudbO5ZirIEUVXDZoCMoZWXTrbXpG31t5DwdtN3w5TQH8DjiLVvWgO_DBpseo/s1600/2012-03-02_11.41.45.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjREHCVP5dpf6V3P3zFOKPDJ3AJSvroRD-VHPamdB1KhQluhDZo8F7eFqBZVODXBSxNLWHA3sYSQIqod2NudbO5ZirIEUVXDZoCMoZWXTrbXpG31t5DwdtN3w5TQH8DjiLVvWgO_DBpseo/s320/2012-03-02_11.41.45.jpg" uda="true" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
I did a bing search of butterfly clip art until I found a simple shape I liked. I messed with it a little in Powerpoint (love that program) and printed off a stencil. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhti1oyQ6d2-XcdTpKpUoQLZdoj-DNMzKS0atROdC04pTJyKlqI4-UDHLES6G6u5EW86RC9lEZ449_lfcee2GuBNXr97BvyeGVhau8OgElp8a9mui-ZvtuOctjgaJDcT220bcAN-LdWA8o/s1600/2012-02-23_19.50.29.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhti1oyQ6d2-XcdTpKpUoQLZdoj-DNMzKS0atROdC04pTJyKlqI4-UDHLES6G6u5EW86RC9lEZ449_lfcee2GuBNXr97BvyeGVhau8OgElp8a9mui-ZvtuOctjgaJDcT220bcAN-LdWA8o/s320/2012-02-23_19.50.29.jpg" uda="true" width="240" /></a></div>
Using wax paper over the outline, I piped melted chocolate onto pieces of wax paper, <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHp9LmQHuIjFhnGrKtyDil3XiCeeQpmsMB8jN0ScGQ2rq6-X4-fUxDb-pk7pQVud2crNmGV7khZzzezOLy8uWrItr2cxTH8DcB7TPgc7AKj34KgcQNDna2_KZXceoF3fagTUgfp3E_mgo/s1600/2012-02-23_19.50.10.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHp9LmQHuIjFhnGrKtyDil3XiCeeQpmsMB8jN0ScGQ2rq6-X4-fUxDb-pk7pQVud2crNmGV7khZzzezOLy8uWrItr2cxTH8DcB7TPgc7AKj34KgcQNDna2_KZXceoF3fagTUgfp3E_mgo/s320/2012-02-23_19.50.10.jpg" uda="true" width="240" /></a></div>
I had melted the color I wanted to use (pink for the picture) in a double boiler, and used a spoon to dollop/drip a small amount into each wing section. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUGvZdkhyphenhyphen5nJY7ds2X9TK9mOMDfNsjnFYQL3vOUZJFg7g-m0tiiUjspfazaplemxma4tbyp4vX6DXpe01MEtiyZdb1K4FYT4-t77B29cnC2JIncsTd8AMTISqQaLHGAsphrHNy7DavjZs/s1600/2012-02-23_19.52.08.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUGvZdkhyphenhyphen5nJY7ds2X9TK9mOMDfNsjnFYQL3vOUZJFg7g-m0tiiUjspfazaplemxma4tbyp4vX6DXpe01MEtiyZdb1K4FYT4-t77B29cnC2JIncsTd8AMTISqQaLHGAsphrHNy7DavjZs/s320/2012-02-23_19.52.08.jpg" uda="true" width="240" /></a></div>
Using a tooth pick I spread out the colored chocolate to the edges of the wings.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmAoDrsfAmYGewGSaVWwt1fDdG1pi-O11jVjQnb5fPqrKzRDjjTgpgRW5_EeI0s51PrOqGzstwS11LB-zq6_tjnr4lEhekNqWlCF-8fYZODgB9R9ZiII7jTUj_-Zcsa6PY-pVeDbZAdHI/s1600/2012-02-23_19.54.32.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmAoDrsfAmYGewGSaVWwt1fDdG1pi-O11jVjQnb5fPqrKzRDjjTgpgRW5_EeI0s51PrOqGzstwS11LB-zq6_tjnr4lEhekNqWlCF-8fYZODgB9R9ZiII7jTUj_-Zcsa6PY-pVeDbZAdHI/s320/2012-02-23_19.54.32.jpg" uda="true" width="240" /></a></div>
Here I actually closed off the wing outline on the inside as opposed to leaving the wing 'open' if you will as I did above. I prefer the fully closed outline to the 'open' one. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9cmQuBTIj5x0xEBKijljFJjd1MeYkbPRAacOhXWn8bYIIVesqzWWQpUgi6UnclEI6uLSXABevp0uCJ30oZceKsTmrpHwrJr3rt8t1QfyBEGTdTzgHxzWNX5CKqUrkXS1GY2w2Yb1ejio/s1600/2012-02-23_20.15.05.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9cmQuBTIj5x0xEBKijljFJjd1MeYkbPRAacOhXWn8bYIIVesqzWWQpUgi6UnclEI6uLSXABevp0uCJ30oZceKsTmrpHwrJr3rt8t1QfyBEGTdTzgHxzWNX5CKqUrkXS1GY2w2Yb1ejio/s320/2012-02-23_20.15.05.jpg" uda="true" width="240" /></a></div>
Then I used another toothpick to swirl the two chocolates together. It became easily muddled, so I had to be careful that I didn't just make a muddy-looking mess.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjNVFFlAb3vRcdwYCreiGQ3MjeLPnAn8GSAoc_ZJ6oQJ-2mewvC-lyZN0AwhvaKp9Xf05-gjbM-tGG-pw8_2_8JE-5WCPr0STQhTRut9_HDHGo3tOFfYdKX85kvEM1Kb0ZgOCakCutMv0/s1600/2012-02-23_19.54.40.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjNVFFlAb3vRcdwYCreiGQ3MjeLPnAn8GSAoc_ZJ6oQJ-2mewvC-lyZN0AwhvaKp9Xf05-gjbM-tGG-pw8_2_8JE-5WCPr0STQhTRut9_HDHGo3tOFfYdKX85kvEM1Kb0ZgOCakCutMv0/s320/2012-02-23_19.54.40.jpg" uda="true" width="240" /></a></div>
Then I sprinkled small white nonparleils (yes, that is how you spell nonparleil) onto the outside edges of the wings. I learned the hard way that this all needs to be done before the chocolate starts to harden at all... So I could only do about 6 at a time just for safety's sake. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgb8EkpKrVNk75RVGZRcS4owaW77H1GnSGBmvptUUicBkjjWwVPPnnatB_Cl2plq_RKl_T-tYSIHwVaJFn30o-jflgSexiB2y3hZOnySuEFevmdGVBXsp1vc1Im8eRHec_-_EL4J_qf_TU/s1600/2012-02-23_19.55.33.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgb8EkpKrVNk75RVGZRcS4owaW77H1GnSGBmvptUUicBkjjWwVPPnnatB_Cl2plq_RKl_T-tYSIHwVaJFn30o-jflgSexiB2y3hZOnySuEFevmdGVBXsp1vc1Im8eRHec_-_EL4J_qf_TU/s320/2012-02-23_19.55.33.jpg" uda="true" width="240" /></a></div>
I Then also made a bunch of <span style="font-family: "Times New Roman", "serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-language: EN-US;">antennae</span><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman", "serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-language: EN-US;"> </span>with my remaining brown chocolate. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8l3OCSXKgDM4ST7tEMgx7CzPtJivrFgkgJtu9pqrHos1oFU7tcXBl7zOTP5wyaHYAUtuhKqR5brz45xiQ8518a4Bvx8xjpyAaaHifHfrI7m_5qk14nkYFscd-UCeJv7idK405iQ2aqtw/s1600/2012-03-02_11.33.24.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8l3OCSXKgDM4ST7tEMgx7CzPtJivrFgkgJtu9pqrHos1oFU7tcXBl7zOTP5wyaHYAUtuhKqR5brz45xiQ8518a4Bvx8xjpyAaaHifHfrI7m_5qk14nkYFscd-UCeJv7idK405iQ2aqtw/s320/2012-03-02_11.33.24.jpg" uda="true" width="240" /></a></div>
So... Then came assembly. I had done wings in purple, pink and orange, and I made matching buttercream frostings for each. I used a star tipped nozzle on my ziploc bags for a little more fancy texture, but there were a ton of was to go with this. If you're good at frosting you could even make a flower for each, and green leaves around the edges, or just use white for all of it... *shrug*.<br />
Anyway, I used two chocolate chips laid flat-side-in to help prop up the wings (bottom cupcake). Then I placed the wings in at an angle (3rd row). Finally I put the body on (2nd row) and the <span style="font-family: "Times New Roman", "serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-language: EN-US;">antennae </span>(top cupcake). I had some extra chocolate after doing the wings and <span style="font-family: "Times New Roman", "serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-language: EN-US;">antennae</span>, so I messed around with some body shapes. In the original post, the blogger used chocolate frosting for the body... I just didn't want to waste the chocolate, so I figured I'd get creative.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJTRHXHBTH99GAQyq-ZoUy2IRQEtyLiiZQtpi0rOLswfvDzdZmfcSArfZxknBQI-5hC3F3GjD8sFvKqTygGMhbTU51DxXZrSHuezzwwktBvrtWWrsiwhQUKoslTShiKjiOD9WJtfPEXG4/s1600/2012-03-02_11.37.59.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJTRHXHBTH99GAQyq-ZoUy2IRQEtyLiiZQtpi0rOLswfvDzdZmfcSArfZxknBQI-5hC3F3GjD8sFvKqTygGMhbTU51DxXZrSHuezzwwktBvrtWWrsiwhQUKoslTShiKjiOD9WJtfPEXG4/s320/2012-03-02_11.37.59.jpg" uda="true" width="240" /></a></div>
So here is another angle of the assembly so you can see how the chips are placed better. They really were <span style="font-family: "Times New Roman", "serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-language: EN-US;">necessary</span>, without them the wings 'wilted' quickly.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSUI5V4jq-D3vSv_gWz-lEefGs3KDoCKZ9wpgxphHYdqVib_6tibyBSjy-hE_cpnyB6z9CgSWlJCEwDHBvpPmaCBy4HP_515_S56w1ltwbqPv1CE3N9f9ATDpOC8eT7fpZL_ym2qhGeSQ/s1600/2012-03-02_11.38.10.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSUI5V4jq-D3vSv_gWz-lEefGs3KDoCKZ9wpgxphHYdqVib_6tibyBSjy-hE_cpnyB6z9CgSWlJCEwDHBvpPmaCBy4HP_515_S56w1ltwbqPv1CE3N9f9ATDpOC8eT7fpZL_ym2qhGeSQ/s320/2012-03-02_11.38.10.jpg" uda="true" width="240" /></a></div>
And here are the finished cakes. I'm SO excited to display them on a few cake stands... tee hee hee... <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPCkMYjGskTS3EuYeqfqeVmG0hT0Ynv4LF2BeKD6YHpjydxnrUQSjv0bm4Ot09d9_xV0h6BOC_twXooTRbK-ZWfYGjxZ22GTZRikOzt9D7ZqTOSfSr1tqc7ynHvDNcwTEnKp1f5EgGYH8/s1600/2012-03-02_11.41.45.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPCkMYjGskTS3EuYeqfqeVmG0hT0Ynv4LF2BeKD6YHpjydxnrUQSjv0bm4Ot09d9_xV0h6BOC_twXooTRbK-ZWfYGjxZ22GTZRikOzt9D7ZqTOSfSr1tqc7ynHvDNcwTEnKp1f5EgGYH8/s320/2012-03-02_11.41.45.jpg" uda="true" width="240" /></a></div>
BTW, I invested in a cupcake-carrier. I figured I make cupcakes often enough and have to jimmy-rig some sort of transportation system that ends up failing more often than not, so it was worth the money. Plus it was on clearance :)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Jasper just about had a <span style="font-family: "Times New Roman", "serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-language: EN-US;">conniption</span> when I told him he couldn't have one... but he got PLENTY of frosting off the beater I let him have. <br />

So there you go. It was alot of work, and frustrating for a perfectionist like me when I don't have the skill or the supplies and tools to make it look like it does in my head, but I am still pretty pleased! Hope she likes them!</div>

I need to do a little baby-boy-bragging. I haven't posted in forever, and I have a stockpile of cute pics of my boys and need to share. So here we go :)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Finn got a new swing, and here he is trying it out. He liked it... I think... and Jasper loved that his brother could now 'swing-a-me'. <br />

Here is your typical Jasper. Bumps, bruises, scrapes, messy hair, dirty shirt and big smile. Love that kid.<br />

Jasper has this habit of climbing on our clean cloths pile we put on our bed after they come out of the dryer. Don't get me wrong, I totally get it. They smell good, they're warm, but I have NO chance of waking him up to put it away. Gee, what a bummer, I guess I'll have to wait to do the laundry...<br />
Oh, don't worry, I briefly scanned the picture for unmentionables. There aren't any :)<br />

I just realized that Jasper is wearing the exact same outfit as he is in the previous swinging picture. I assure you, this is a totally different day. In fact, you can see this is before I put up the baby swing... there's the other bar and handles hanging next to him. At least I'm consistent?<br />

Whenever I'm taking pictures of my art, Jasper says 'picture-a-me?'. Here is one such picture. Just woke up and in his jammies... I love it. <br />

Another bath picture. Putting aside that Jasper is posing like a model, these are my two squeaky clean boys. Finn REALLY has to have that toothbrush in his hand when he's in the bath. Jasper took it once and Finn freaked out. Like really had a huge melt-down. So now I have 2 toothbrushes in the bathtub. One for Finn, and one for J. <br />

I recently worked on a very cool project that Lindsay asked me to guest post about, and I'm so excited to be doing this! I have to begin with a few disclaimers though.... *My pictures are nowhere NEAR as nice as Lindsay's (or any other blogger's for that matter)*<br />
*No working, salvageable piano was harmed in the making of this post (this is especially important to me since I am a pianist and would never purposely dismember a working instrument)*<br />
*I can't spell*<br />
So, now that that's out of the way, we can begin! I began this project on accident... I was actively looking for a used piano to call my own, and we have this fantastic local website here where I live for just such used listings as I was looking for. I found a beautiful old piano for free, and was fully planning on restoring it to working order...<br />
I somehow got the beast home (seriously, it weighed probably upwards of 800 lbs. Funny side note, it took 2 adult men, 7 teenage boys, and 2 women to lift this monster into the back of my dad's truck... no kidding) and upon closer inspection realized the soundboard (what the strings are attached to and where the sound resonates) was cracked in several places, and while the basic mechanics where all in tact, it wasn't worth the time, effort and money it would take to restore it.<br />
Sooo.... I decided to use the keyboard and platform to make a shelf for my house!<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicuK0ueMdgDnJvXzGxeGY4ORn0fFFYrYFtmK2aHrg4HcIOI2_DgUN79JPbnGzu06kGHPyk6JhKU0nr3Ln1TwPM_RBGFMrY9fVeKbOkBbnwtLg5h5tfpTy9C2XmfkJdr_HmwSD2lxcP8Ns/s1600/2012-01-04_12.18.25.jpg"><img alt="" border="0" height="400" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5694201425809821506" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicuK0ueMdgDnJvXzGxeGY4ORn0fFFYrYFtmK2aHrg4HcIOI2_DgUN79JPbnGzu06kGHPyk6JhKU0nr3Ln1TwPM_RBGFMrY9fVeKbOkBbnwtLg5h5tfpTy9C2XmfkJdr_HmwSD2lxcP8Ns/s400/2012-01-04_12.18.25.jpg" style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center;" width="317" /></a>I love the antiqued look this piano has, so I decided not to stain it or paint it, but just to leave the natural wearing. I took it apart piece by piece, and was able to get everything I needed and discovered much about the piano along the way... And left behind the shell, if you will. The picture below is an in-the-process picture of taking it apart. I set the keys on top of the piano with some of the misc. pieces, so it's a little jumbled looking, but that is the inside of an upright grand everyone!<br />
(Another funny story... The screws that were holding the piano together had been in there for over 100 years, and were so rusted and fitted into place that I actually bent a screwdriver trying to turn them out.)<br />

Once I had the keyboard off, I took off all of the keys (88 in case you were wondering) and began cleaning. This poor guy had been stored in a barn for upwards of 15 years, and had been sorely abused by its previous owners. It was COVERED in spider webs and dirt, and underneath all of that was a lot of crayon, scratches and carvings.<br />
*I shake my fist in the air at injustice*<br />
Ultimately, I was able to get it looking reasonable again.<br />

What you see above is the keyboard base after the keys are off... each of the 88 keys uses two of those pins you see. That green felt circles there are originally to keep the keys protected against landing on bare wood and chipping or denting as you played, but I used those and a strip of green felt from the back to prop up the keys... When they aren't attached to the hammers (the felt things that smack the strings and make sound) anymore, they fall forward and can't be seen from the front, so I re-purposed some material there. <br />
<br />
I used my dad's circular saw to cut down the base board right behind that second row of pins, taking off about 7 inches or so. You can see in that same picture some lone pieces of silver hardware in the very back... Those are gone too :)<br />
<br />
I also have to give a shout out to my good friend Jill... She let me borrow her husband's miter saw. *drool*. This one even has a draw on it!<br />
One day... One day I tell you... I will OWN all of these tools! <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
I used the miter saw to being the hair-cutting process of the keys. Each of the keys (after being scrubbed and sanded) was trimmed down to a size that would be manageable on my wall. You can see below how I cut the keys... those five on the right are un-cut and pretty darn long. <br />

So with all the pieces cleaned and cut, I put the keyboard back together. <br />
<br />
Below is a view from the back side of the piece, since I'm sure you all wanted to know how the back of a piano's keyboard looked... But be impressed readers! This is something you'll never see again! <br />
The keyboard cover is 'up', and the final top piece isn't on yet, but I wanted to show off my nice even cuts using equipment way above my pay grade. And I wanted you all to admire my beautiful plastic counters.<br />

I just about killed myself doing it. But it is mounted to the wall on 3 large wrought iron brackets which are screwed into studs. And let me tell you, these studs are super studly... I ended up breaking off my drill bit into the last hole. I couldn't get the leverage I needed, so I had to stand on a chair to put my weight into the drill, and torqued the bit and broke it off.<br />
Ugh. The story of my life.<br />
<br />
Anyway, I'm absolutely in love with it. It took ALOT of time, and a lot of dirty work, but I love the way it looks, and the style it brings into my house. </div>

But I've been super busy! And since the only people who read this already know why, I won't bother going into too much detail :)<br /><br />This is a finished picture... All the decorations are set up but the party hadn't started, so I took the time to take some pictures of it fully adorned and empty of people.<br /><br />*choir of angels singing*<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0CRV6dqMuc2D7yfaDhmC45GMLqa3foe-0mqfwVb5zgO88v_uYUivesxxOWc6eJhP8jb-nDHe_bOO_c5Q-DRBOANX_waIXCUJa3j2wQHPwwrOvWTjFYYDCZIoIv4MfugAGKPUdlRAe96g/s1600/Finished+full+room.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 300px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5685355209807801778" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0CRV6dqMuc2D7yfaDhmC45GMLqa3foe-0mqfwVb5zgO88v_uYUivesxxOWc6eJhP8jb-nDHe_bOO_c5Q-DRBOANX_waIXCUJa3j2wQHPwwrOvWTjFYYDCZIoIv4MfugAGKPUdlRAe96g/s400/Finished+full+room.jpg" /></a><br /><br />Here's an in-the-process picture... There is Nellie hanging up lights (thank you Nellie), and Josh and a Hawkins boy helping out (thanks to them too). Also had Melanie Hawkins, her daughter Maddie, and Emma Johnson fluffing the snowballs you see hanging... I seriously owe them my sanity, because there was no way I wanted to spend an hour and a half doing that. So thanks to them too :)<br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgz2lm0gwKaHQtU3omCqgfUSNktbGfTchOpHIjTMvQP6J-gmHWet_7a2xlEPW_NwtVWLSWIClOJR4Bgx21zKtSv1DIqfw7HYXC76hyphenhyphenJ0Eukq6z9iHNkoSDi5SSL6CfA560X_jSu-MR03Ro/s1600/Half+room+set+up.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 300px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 400px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5685355194444976578" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgz2lm0gwKaHQtU3omCqgfUSNktbGfTchOpHIjTMvQP6J-gmHWet_7a2xlEPW_NwtVWLSWIClOJR4Bgx21zKtSv1DIqfw7HYXC76hyphenhyphenJ0Eukq6z9iHNkoSDi5SSL6CfA560X_jSu-MR03Ro/s400/Half+room+set+up.jpg" /></a> </div><br /><div>Also, what you can't see going on is Hillari and Curt running twine up to the hooks for the lights to be strung on, and then actually stringing all the lights as well. Curt has nerves of steel, because he was the only one willing to get up on this rickety ladder to do the up-high stuff. (thanks Curt!). And thanks to Hill for bringing the ladder and all her work too... I was able to do what I wanted because she did the grunt work that night. I really really REALLY didn't want to string lights, and she did it without complaint like a rock star.</div><br /><div><br /><br /><div><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEif7unj612etN-dsbrK5HiqFVG_47KhCzw_yIenbzcEwwlsRWOV20is0i0USk2ij2hQELpBEjUVnB09aB7XkX0S_JAI7FA_-ckGDVAgVtq-uBOO0E1983aCvVtdMKmU9UKGu1m7HLcUTJU/s1600/Gold+Table%252C+Wreath+Centerpiece.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 300px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 400px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5685355175998305698" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEif7unj612etN-dsbrK5HiqFVG_47KhCzw_yIenbzcEwwlsRWOV20is0i0USk2ij2hQELpBEjUVnB09aB7XkX0S_JAI7FA_-ckGDVAgVtq-uBOO0E1983aCvVtdMKmU9UKGu1m7HLcUTJU/s400/Gold+Table%252C+Wreath+Centerpiece.jpg" /></a>So these beautiful centerpieces were really pretty easy, just time consuming, so I had a little party one Saturday night to get a jump start on them all... and bless Jill for rolling all those stupid cones for the wreath centerpieces! And to Kristin, Shayla, Hillari and Aimee for putting in the time to do some pillars and wreaths as well. Seriously, that night got about half of the work done and saved my stressed out butt. </div><br /><div><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEigX-IykEGVGUh64GyL6_znAxMlA4EK0GRMv84r4tRGKWMOnCGfLS26Ehe6CsW4VtUDk9hfOfBiWB2fhiAyaR1QNCF98vz0tGEKfXsdwNuTkhrDuSElwAXfNNFWXQN82_pM0vF-md1bOjE/s1600/Gold+table%252C+Pillar+centerpiece.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 300px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 400px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5685355174721402754" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEigX-IykEGVGUh64GyL6_znAxMlA4EK0GRMv84r4tRGKWMOnCGfLS26Ehe6CsW4VtUDk9hfOfBiWB2fhiAyaR1QNCF98vz0tGEKfXsdwNuTkhrDuSElwAXfNNFWXQN82_pM0vF-md1bOjE/s400/Gold+table%252C+Pillar+centerpiece.jpg" /></a><br />And don't you love that pole in the background? Doug's 'Green Man' outfit.<br />Ok, so it started out as a tree, but Doug and I both got teased about how girly and dorky his costume was going to look, so I decided to make him the masculine personification of nature... Or something like that.<br />Anyway, please ignore the mess in the back-ground... this costume was finished amid decorating and cleaning, and I couldn't wait to take pictures.<br />It started with just a pair of dark brown pants and a green shirt from D.I. that fit him well enough to work with. I had some spare green fabric in my quilt and blanket bin, and was able to cut out a large enough circle to span his shoulders to create the 'yeoman hood and cape'... that's what it's called if you look for the pattern anyway. It's basically just a circle almost 40" across with a hole cut in the middle for the head. Then, so there wasn't a ton of extra fabric flapping around that I'd have to cover with leaves, I had him put his hands on his hips and tailored the fabric to fit snug around his arms, but allowing him enough leeway to move.<br />After I got the 'cape' the size and fit I wanted, I started hot gluing the leaves I'd been collecting off of clearance racks for a month or so onto it. I started at the bottom so that I wouldn't have to fuss with layering leaves under other leaves... Doing it from the bottom let me layer leaves on top of eachother.<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiS846u9AVgRTosoY5BFDqhi8u07P92xHKwAGnysRfEB4YJ-5YuUteZ1mDKLIFNIH5ueyFfJy7KpMTxQDLPvmdbsaN7G7Pgtx0YaZxRKe8rijCUaG0mYb0aodN6UbinsIiPWThc4KHRc1k/s1600/Doug+Tree+costume+close+up+2.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 268px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 400px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5666724994955079186" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiS846u9AVgRTosoY5BFDqhi8u07P92xHKwAGnysRfEB4YJ-5YuUteZ1mDKLIFNIH5ueyFfJy7KpMTxQDLPvmdbsaN7G7Pgtx0YaZxRKe8rijCUaG0mYb0aodN6UbinsIiPWThc4KHRc1k/s400/Doug+Tree+costume+close+up+2.jpg" /></a> The sleeves were pretty simple... Just strips of green fabric attached to the ends of the shirt sleeves cut into 6 tassels, and kinda wound/braided around his forearm. I'll probably try to come up with some kind of cuff for the wrist so the ends aren't dangling around annoying him...<br />The pants were really easy... I found another pair of pants with the color and texture I wanted at D.I., and cut them into small diamond shapes. I layered them the same way as the leaves, but instead of doing the whole leg, I did the bottom and intermittently towards the top, tapering off the higher they went.<br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQ3AsxruCo4aDEKQAP61CrtlNQNRjyIdIyxxI-XbEypsyet3D_zLAKKBaEt22G-J4Bf27swOOGBM5GopqwfwQIBY_addzj_jvRFqAKfImPH6w1q6RK9N030vaV0p8O7GLctOIjSDzcFaU/s1600/Doug+Tree+costume+full+body+1.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 266px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 400px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5666724986477858562" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQ3AsxruCo4aDEKQAP61CrtlNQNRjyIdIyxxI-XbEypsyet3D_zLAKKBaEt22G-J4Bf27swOOGBM5GopqwfwQIBY_addzj_jvRFqAKfImPH6w1q6RK9N030vaV0p8O7GLctOIjSDzcFaU/s400/Doug+Tree+costume+full+body+1.jpg" /></a>I found a tutorial online for making your own masks at home (<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SBelIutha-8">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SBelIutha-8</a>), and that's how I made this one for Doug. It was basically layers of tin foil molded to his face, then cut out and covered in a few layers of paper mache, then painted. It took a long time to do one this intricate, but I love the result! </div><br /><div><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQTIk3E_Vt64bdZDUGRfGPlHPBKKotp8EEpKI-UlyusFvCBeOxDH6Xof1U0KplgXgekYyf1hd7zCoCr2FImX0KWQTPAATSDo2SuqcxFLps-jPBk2rKPiQy92heAm-Ens89318SACxRch4/s1600/Doug+Tree+costume+close+up+1.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 269px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 400px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5666724989725801714" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQTIk3E_Vt64bdZDUGRfGPlHPBKKotp8EEpKI-UlyusFvCBeOxDH6Xof1U0KplgXgekYyf1hd7zCoCr2FImX0KWQTPAATSDo2SuqcxFLps-jPBk2rKPiQy92heAm-Ens89318SACxRch4/s400/Doug+Tree+costume+close+up+1.jpg" /></a> So there it is, Doug's not girly 'tree' costume... No, I didn't think to take any during-the-process pictures (sorry), but I'll explain what I did and how I did it. </div><br /><div>It all started when two of my maple trees died in the back yard. I was looking at them thinking "what a waste of a perfectly good tree"... so I cut them down at the base and found they were dry all the way through. Good for me, but bad for the trees :( But because they were completely dry, they were very light and easy to handle. </div><br /><div></div><br /><div>I was able to get them in the house to measure how much I would need to cut off so they would fit. Luckily I have a vaulted ceiling in my living room, so I was able to keep them about 12 feet-ish. </div><br /><div>I took them back outside and after trimming off all the dried leaves that were still hanging on, and trimming off any broken twigs and such I spray painted them both black. I used about 1 whole Krylon can of black satin spray paint each. Sounds like alot, but spray painting a tree is different from spray painting a flat shelf of picture frame or whatnot... I did however try to stack them on each other so that any spray that missed one branch might hit another. </div><br /><div></div><br /><div>Once I had them painted, I used wire hangers (straightened out) to secure them into the pots. </div><br /><div>These pots housed my tomato plants, but I decided they would be better used as decorations... A better way to go if you ask me. They are plastic, and I used a drill bit to punch 4 holes just under the lip of the rim of the pot to thread the hangers through. </div><br /><div>Ok bear with me as I try to explain how I did this hanger-securing part. (and yes, that is the correct way to spell bear... I looked it up.)</div><br /><div>I started by pushing my tree trunk into the largest floral-foam block I could find.... probably 12"x12"x12". Then I wedged it into the bottom of my pot, which was just under 12" at the bottom... It was quite snug, and allowed me to work with the hangers and not worry about the tree toppling down on me. </div><br /><div></div><br /><div>After straightening out each hanger and tying a knot in the very end of just one side (using pliers... I should have taken pictures of the blisters) I threaded a hanger through one of the 4 holes in the pot. Then I went around the left of the tree trunk 270*, and put the straight end of the hanger into the drilled hole on the right (90* away from starting hole), making the hanger into an 'L' shape. </div><br /><div></div><br /><div>Does that even make sense?</div><br /><div></div><br /><div>Aaaaanway, I pulled the hanger as far as I could while keeping the tree completely vertical, and used the pliers again to bend a hook in the hanger as close as possible to the outside of the drilled hole. The more rotated my pliers, the tighter the hanger got, since the hooked hanger was too big to fit back through the hole I drilled. I used the second hanger in the same way using the remaining two holes, but I pulled that one as tight as I could, putting as much pressure on both hangers as possible. </div><br /><div></div><br /><div>SO.... with the foam block at the bottom keeping the tree from tipping, and the hangers keeping the tree from wobbling, I came out with a very sturdy and balanced base for my trees. </div><br /><div>Keep in mind this was NOT easy, but SO worth it... Because I took all that time, I don't have to worry about my tree tipping, I can just set it on its base and it wont lean or wobble. </div><br /><div></div><br /><div>If this sounds like WAY too much work to you, you could plug the holes at the bottom of your pot and fill it with small river rocks to make the base heavy enough it won't allow the tree to tip. Obviously, that's alot heavier, and it cant be transported on its side, nor lifted by the trunk of the tree with just one hand (wow, do I sound biased?), but it is much faster. I will still recommend the foam block at the bottom however. </div><br /><div></div><br /><div>After that I used a hot glue gun to secure my very large chunk of spanish moss to the inside of the pot, and voila, you have a super cool halloween tree.</div><br /><div></div><br /><div>Keep in mind, this is SO easy to personalize... I spray painted my pots black and my moss lime green for Halloween, but it would be so easy to decorate the pots as gifts with moss painted white for christmas, or a pink tree and pot with red moss for valentines day, the list goes on! </div><br /><div></div><br /><br /><div>*sigh*.... If only I had more dead maple trees....</div><br /><div></div><br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg8bQ1-p-W5G6ZMkv8awwWQEcg-ZUmQ0BzBpCmXLIduedAI7MXPgAxHP-xIMk2aur1zslM3-Wp8U6VRllMtwNzAPU0W2_WdRzK4rbsyyyJu9kqDbZAYJyNaLs-dKB2nkt5_RJZhMASs4Yo/s1600/9-17-2011+016.JPG"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 300px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 400px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5661306130734854946" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg8bQ1-p-W5G6ZMkv8awwWQEcg-ZUmQ0BzBpCmXLIduedAI7MXPgAxHP-xIMk2aur1zslM3-Wp8U6VRllMtwNzAPU0W2_WdRzK4rbsyyyJu9kqDbZAYJyNaLs-dKB2nkt5_RJZhMASs4Yo/s400/9-17-2011+016.JPG" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><div style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; CLEAR: both" class="separator"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiB0zzYa1bMeW2ydmZpXZa0SQg56qSrYSrkZ8eB8eOVO4tE5kCTO_NKEQRLWKeJL1pEih7tEpUg1l7Rr-dkbKmP-QHKYsKc7OOJuo_kRgFHfa8W1B-4PE_k9HBdxD8IzXbPdP9q-7x_DPQ/s1600/Picture4.jpg" /></div></div>Ashley Tuckerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04247481135662570183noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5153695593748604332.post-79237159485045062632011-09-18T03:46:00.001-07:002011-09-18T03:57:46.783-07:00What a sad, sad day for BYU... We recently went to a friends new pool, and Jasper had a BLAST jumping off the edge... Until he saw one of the big boys jumping off the diving board, and then he just HAD to do it too, and continued to do it for over 30 minutes. This kid has no fear! So here's a picture of him in his swimsuit getup, and the video below is of him jumping off the diving board. So fun!<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2AUVQQnN6Q4pnV92-hjA0Wt00kgyH4dsZd5fQpKCnObW5IqbVpJ0dR5nJJUVG5NAAqCXXj9n__hsvxaozbTKAAILYYtJDe4ya9WuczpK7StmMWxs5QiPvm86aYWDs_s2U1JuSzF73WYA/s1600/9-9-2011+085.JPG"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 300px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5651163255476904450" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2AUVQQnN6Q4pnV92-hjA0Wt00kgyH4dsZd5fQpKCnObW5IqbVpJ0dR5nJJUVG5NAAqCXXj9n__hsvxaozbTKAAILYYtJDe4ya9WuczpK7StmMWxs5QiPvm86aYWDs_s2U1JuSzF73WYA/s400/9-9-2011+085.JPG" /></a><br /><br /><div style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; CLEAR: both" class="separator"></div><br /><br /><div style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; CLEAR: both" class="separator"><br /><br /><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dwNrS7eXFWUfeLWmcJX8vq9iIpEZH-NUrbWbr2nDGXIQAJYfXnq52TC46EBT4XVu7iVZarBXKwbKizmrBrQiA' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div><br /><div style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; CLEAR: both" class="separator"></div><br /><div style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; CLEAR: both" class="separator">So I'll post again soon... We left on a Thursday morning very early (6 a.m. and yes, that is very early for me) luckily just before a snow storm hit, and drove straight through Utah, Idaho, Oregon and onto Washington where my mom's parents live. Great weather the whole way for driving, yay! We stayed with them two nights and they were, as always, extremely generous. They live in Goldendale, WA and are surrounded by hundreds of windmills! Mom and I thought they were so beautiful, and Jasper was curious about them, so we stopped that first day in Washington to get close to one. After that, any time Jasper saw a windmill, no matter where we were, he would yell 'Meeeeeeel', and we would say 'Yes, a windmill'. Then, because there were hundreds, he would yell 'Meeeeeeel' again, and we would reply 'Yes, a windmill'. It was alot of fun, and waaaay better than our aquarium here in Utah (for obvious reasons). We got a few great shots of the creatures there, and here is their huge octopus! It was moving around like crazy, and Jasper just stood so still and watched, and kept pointing to the suckers. A little creepy, but we were lucky apparently to have seen him so active... or so said a guide there. <br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLIjcQA2piObdrt62fRYK7Aq9DVif1xNeSK54cmgwTF1HRSX14HvzXJtc76OZt74YciIDD4JpF7PHYACiXpF4fIG5hy9n8i84W86swkM5PNX2KKULXdv_Xp1Nd22AQNYD6vFWB2wc7kZI/s1600/415.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 267px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5597789967830669010" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLIjcQA2piObdrt62fRYK7Aq9DVif1xNeSK54cmgwTF1HRSX14HvzXJtc76OZt74YciIDD4JpF7PHYACiXpF4fIG5hy9n8i84W86swkM5PNX2KKULXdv_Xp1Nd22AQNYD6vFWB2wc7kZI/s400/415.jpg" /></a> Jasper also got up close and personal with the puffins in the aviary. Again, he stood so still and quite that the worker there said she was very impressed, and usually the birds stay far away from the little kids because they are so loud and move so much. Anyway, this particular puffin came within inches of Jasper over and over again, and at first I was afraid he was going to get his finger or nose tweaked by this guy, but they just wanted to check each other out. Very cool :)<br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiuh3R0o3ciVBc9XUHz2p71sDRCwJn0-s4byzR3fvj6Kutd9upJZOdGpYozRIkzo9Osfh37oxIoB6lWjs56lLz_bVai2Wc3pGyWFE92ftWv1P3Ujn8HpxoK5qSzT7Ij2utQdmi8jG1j2SA/s1600/424.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 267px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5597789964177424306" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiuh3R0o3ciVBc9XUHz2p71sDRCwJn0-s4byzR3fvj6Kutd9upJZOdGpYozRIkzo9Osfh37oxIoB6lWjs56lLz_bVai2Wc3pGyWFE92ftWv1P3Ujn8HpxoK5qSzT7Ij2utQdmi8jG1j2SA/s400/424.jpg" /></a> We went through this great big tunnel that used to be where they kept keiko the killer whale, but they turned it into this underwater shark tank thing. As soon as we get upstairs in Grandma and Grandpa Connelly's house, he runs to grab the Wii controllers and grunts in the direction of the tv, obviously wanting us to turn it on. So we do, and truth be told, we do very little coaching once the games on Wii Resort are started... Jasper knows when to shake his remote, when to steer, and all you have to do is say 'Jasper, push the button', and he will find and push the 'A'. No kidding, he wins half the time! <br /><br />So here he is with Daddy, steering away...<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0Hl0mBuFeDEbKegmyPfXi5BD_i5wOe0lWFrDthAWWUOnCl_Umy6bnGVPHrRmrdX0Z9tLwNtcRHp3M5pz-Fq4sgHSeq6jqjUfjYyJ4t4ali70fYo-15O4md37B1Bavrrbjf-OTlZ1hEJw/s1600/Jasper+playing+wii.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 360px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5597779341350644066" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0Hl0mBuFeDEbKegmyPfXi5BD_i5wOe0lWFrDthAWWUOnCl_Umy6bnGVPHrRmrdX0Z9tLwNtcRHp3M5pz-Fq4sgHSeq6jqjUfjYyJ4t4ali70fYo-15O4md37B1Bavrrbjf-OTlZ1hEJw/s400/Jasper+playing+wii.jpg" /></a> And once he gets tired of standing, he usually finds a lap to lay in (typically grandpa's).<br /><br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkV2EcRme2vzFetkdljST8BpzvRcmVeiYclHWcgPWAqkEQOqiwV5iwzoHO3Zjwfv3DU_OLeSZh1ftjMRmjhOcgZxXdmPJnVbpeDTlyPLNEC4FM-1YJeUuYygQXppoRSPIat5bba4k8f5c/s1600/Jasper+playing+wii+with+gpa.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 360px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5597779339024901778" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkV2EcRme2vzFetkdljST8BpzvRcmVeiYclHWcgPWAqkEQOqiwV5iwzoHO3Zjwfv3DU_OLeSZh1ftjMRmjhOcgZxXdmPJnVbpeDTlyPLNEC4FM-1YJeUuYygQXppoRSPIat5bba4k8f5c/s400/Jasper+playing+wii+with+gpa.jpg" /></a> </div><br /><div>He is just too funny! Doug and I have searched and searched our house, our cars and my purse (which has been emptied countless times in the hopes that maybe, just maybe, I missed it the first twenty times I looked)... I wanted to share my latest craftiness with you. I was perusing Martha Stewarts website (*gag* I know....) and came across this adorable collage called petite owl. BTW, I'm really into owl and bird designs right now, and so I decided just one petite owl wasn't enough. So I patched together this idea on a canvas I had lying around, and I'm pretty pleased with the result!<br /><br /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 300px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5584358920754276914" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBDeBRg9TTGkcrazwKob8SfsvxP9YqgwaR1J5twP78-JzIp3oat4MvECbJekWWYfBNdo_fK7TFyI43QM3Jg9OZI00igE0007DzZQAcnOmN3D45ezy_vVERyUyhp0vvpX9Sn2R64-rZ88M/s400/3-15-2011+001.JPG" /><br />I started by painting a light blue background with a stiff, bristle-y brush to get a rough, rustic look, then painted over it again with white. Then I just pieced together the owl families with scrapbooking paper I had, and used white paint and black puff paint for the eyes.<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgxm3byWZckqJ2cITqkqf_QZ_ULa5iJPFvIoV-PaCBv4b4fLL2s0vARk7mUryOyrsAz68xCHFGEv7cQG-JkcMFbP1-szOYYPRlIfvrgF4B1jx-YoZztAD4TQgeWnBbscT7wjON82MqEHKM/s1600/3-15-2011+002.JPG"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 300px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5584358926319448994" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgxm3byWZckqJ2cITqkqf_QZ_ULa5iJPFvIoV-PaCBv4b4fLL2s0vARk7mUryOyrsAz68xCHFGEv7cQG-JkcMFbP1-szOYYPRlIfvrgF4B1jx-YoZztAD4TQgeWnBbscT7wjON82MqEHKM/s400/3-15-2011+002.JPG" /></a> Then I mod podged the whole with several layers, and it gave the paper a really nice, rich glossy look. The stars and moon were a later addition, I didn't like the negative space I was left with, and that was my solution.<br /><div><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjinpXW9HsM13F6XK-MrqNDPlO3T7rGq6burXC6NYUDvGarJy9BaXwTdyvQfn1maPowWdJQs3SftQvknCdUBMlG-ZVN_fIRDG6WcWkjQAre8BjsMhazoEKOghqbo4YzqDnqu4VeRPEPGtM/s1600/3-12-2011+006.JPG"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 300px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 400px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5584356342316228242" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjinpXW9HsM13F6XK-MrqNDPlO3T7rGq6burXC6NYUDvGarJy9BaXwTdyvQfn1maPowWdJQs3SftQvknCdUBMlG-ZVN_fIRDG6WcWkjQAre8BjsMhazoEKOghqbo4YzqDnqu4VeRPEPGtM/s400/3-12-2011+006.JPG" /></a> <div style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; CLEAR: both" class="separator" align="left">You'll have to let me know what you think... It's a Boy!!!I am SO EXCITED! Another baby boy on the way, and someone for Jasper to play with :)<br />The Ultrasound Nurse was super nice, and said the baby looked great... looks like from the size the due date might be moved up a little (yay!). Here are some of the better pictures from the CD she gave me:<br /><br />This is baby's spine and big 'ol tummy. You can see most of the body here and I love it :).<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiwqo52KZviIoeYfiSyuPPuBA-nqAY6RCK5nxlu1G6YzcAczCFjE96Cw0VRPiSUggum035kXLGmpVVdR88hdJ9EH1raqhPp2PteA5oS65ZG90qCH4zt2vWzNm-npMdJ57XyEgXIUkqJu1w/s1600/Baby+2+Spine+body+profile.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 300px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5569205688636444690" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiwqo52KZviIoeYfiSyuPPuBA-nqAY6RCK5nxlu1G6YzcAczCFjE96Cw0VRPiSUggum035kXLGmpVVdR88hdJ9EH1raqhPp2PteA5oS65ZG90qCH4zt2vWzNm-npMdJ57XyEgXIUkqJu1w/s400/Baby+2+Spine+body+profile.jpg" /></a> Proof that it's really a boy... Like this crazy sculpture mom and I found on our way up to Alpine. I know it's a little hard to see, but it was probably 20 feet high, and it even had lights on it at night. I'm not sure how it was done, but it was just in someones front yard in some little neighborhood... crazy, right?<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOMZL3-rHPZBfocyPoeNdCcNpI42Rd8ld-jfk8H65L0y-2DEmFOUGAVzRaLRQBVaWoNmpzdNNNDl2jHadJqXgzXd1rwyCfC5Exd5Vwuo2gXdkU68WEUuPMlOMPRnv4c2wIANlVKVbx7q0/s1600/1-21-2011+012.JPG"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 300px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5565853135675899362" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOMZL3-rHPZBfocyPoeNdCcNpI42Rd8ld-jfk8H65L0y-2DEmFOUGAVzRaLRQBVaWoNmpzdNNNDl2jHadJqXgzXd1rwyCfC5Exd5Vwuo2gXdkU68WEUuPMlOMPRnv4c2wIANlVKVbx7q0/s400/1-21-2011+012.JPG" /></a><br /><div></div><br /><div></div>And I had to post my sweet boy... coloring with crayons at the counter, way to big for his <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_0" class="blsp-spelling-corrected">britches</span> :)<br /><div></div><div></div><div><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEje5vwkUqMPhCV7e0MHK-F748c89ITPM_uqnjQ4X9JI1JvRnuvg7XxkXcy3WaC60gSc2v6ohjsP78FLDTSSoy7U3y5RhD9PhEDeZs-JHXnbe9HCzBdkpOJ2gtABL4Y_X-keA9RcaKl6Dhg/s1600/1-21-2011+010.JPG"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5565852785081070866" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEje5vwkUqMPhCV7e0MHK-F748c89ITPM_uqnjQ4X9JI1JvRnuvg7XxkXcy3WaC60gSc2v6ohjsP78FLDTSSoy7U3y5RhD9PhEDeZs-JHXnbe9HCzBdkpOJ2gtABL4Y_X-keA9RcaKl6Dhg/s320/1-21-2011+010.JPG" /></a><br /><div style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; CLEAR: both" class="separator"></div><div style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; CLEAR: both" class="separator"></div><div style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; CLEAR: both" class="separator"></div>By the way, I find out what baby #2 is next Wednesday (the 2<span id="SPELLING_ERROR_1" class="blsp-spelling-error">nd</span> of Feb.) and I'm super excited!</div><div>Loves,<br /><br /><div style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; CLEAR: both" class="separator"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiB0zzYa1bMeW2ydmZpXZa0SQg56qSrYSrkZ8eB8eOVO4tE5kCTO_NKEQRLWKeJL1pEih7tEpUg1l7Rr-dkbKmP-QHKYsKc7OOJuo_kRgFHfa8W1B-4PE_k9HBdxD8IzXbPdP9q-7x_DPQ/s1600/Picture4.jpg" /></div></div></div>Ashley Tuckerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04247481135662570183noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5153695593748604332.post-78157685422650930592011-01-05T12:58:00.000-08:002011-01-05T13:21:53.154-08:00Holidays 2010So I know I'm the WORST at keeping up with blogging, but now that the holidays are over, maybe I can be a little more consistent.<br /><br />We just spent the holidays up Bountiful at my mom's house with my sister Lindsay and her family who came in from Boston. We had a ton of fun playing games, eating good food, crafting and being with family.<br /><br />This is Jasper all bundled up and ready to play outside. I don't think he liked it all that much :)<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6sAjSXupwZrK70rmXT3rTM3SBtyLtOErdWzQsLTaW9f8e2KKK2zkbRZEM1LuUWVUfwj9Z4FPsk8r6joc9n816tjBIp6pCA1T4NuqZnvxufI8hAO7wvKfNDXI5CC-A-Z-NoJ-uhaPzP9g/s1600/Snowsuit+jasper.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 213px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5558812974656084482" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6sAjSXupwZrK70rmXT3rTM3SBtyLtOErdWzQsLTaW9f8e2KKK2zkbRZEM1LuUWVUfwj9Z4FPsk8r6joc9n816tjBIp6pCA1T4NuqZnvxufI8hAO7wvKfNDXI5CC-A-Z-NoJ-uhaPzP9g/s320/Snowsuit+jasper.jpg" /></a><br />My dad replaced a hallway and bathroom with bamboo flooring, and Jasper (who is ready to go to the pool, hence the shorts and rash guard) is helping with a toy hammer. Too cute :)<br /><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLLmwtsbNwp2Q3qYkqOZhuegQtABJUJtkkvNw5oznFOTMSMA1MniU7cWNyRRKTNSLhZIjfDMvEd6M6d-PkuTBkb9mW5CMMGoLj9gMB2AvlsYlAeyVDzw4sPL4LOQsaDFTa7B-exQJJ8yc/s1600/Jasper+hamering+hardwood+floor+with+grandpa.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 213px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5558812973064120626" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLLmwtsbNwp2Q3qYkqOZhuegQtABJUJtkkvNw5oznFOTMSMA1MniU7cWNyRRKTNSLhZIjfDMvEd6M6d-PkuTBkb9mW5CMMGoLj9gMB2AvlsYlAeyVDzw4sPL4LOQsaDFTa7B-exQJJ8yc/s320/Jasper+hamering+hardwood+floor+with+grandpa.jpg" /></a><br />Jasper also really liked to help grandma with her sewing... They are laughing at me playing peek-a-boo from behind the bed in this one :) Luckily, we got about 4 perfect photos (we shot about 200), and this is one of them. Love it!<br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDD9_nFlREWi9MTvdzxXNuQIpgjZyB5Znmu4Ge0l-Sv-Dv3dALABd5jfbZWPJ8zdTeopNKDRg2xP03IwmVWX842UKlR70JrVHrTEBFIdYFA65PKdHJBWPZFABaIWp8VqzKPaU1vPzn6bM/s1600/Cute+Connelly+Cousins+in+Sepia.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 213px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5558812966584670274" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDD9_nFlREWi9MTvdzxXNuQIpgjZyB5Znmu4Ge0l-Sv-Dv3dALABd5jfbZWPJ8zdTeopNKDRg2xP03IwmVWX842UKlR70JrVHrTEBFIdYFA65PKdHJBWPZFABaIWp8VqzKPaU1vPzn6bM/s320/Cute+Connelly+Cousins+in+Sepia.jpg" /></a><br />And this is a quilt my mom made. She made one for each girl, and the flower tops are hand-stitched by her great-grandmother, which she then quilted into a blanket called 'grandmother's flower garden'. She worked REALLY hard on them, and they are such a beautiful keepsake. Every flower top is different, and so each quilt is different. I really love this, and am SO excited to find a great spot to display it in my house.<br /><br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiL0L7vYDYTo36-lYXu-D685WtagKmtYp1KUmdphCBJx-QJRZeP6Ms0tFkLq9ETSMorESTkg8OG4awvQR8f7ZyzeL4QvjWoCYyS1ojuql5PHlABfQiV44rjvpJPE5OMbjjpWHrsn94j52E/s1600/Mom%2527s+grandma+blanket.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 213px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5558812961573620562" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiL0L7vYDYTo36-lYXu-D685WtagKmtYp1KUmdphCBJx-QJRZeP6Ms0tFkLq9ETSMorESTkg8OG4awvQR8f7ZyzeL4QvjWoCYyS1ojuql5PHlABfQiV44rjvpJPE5OMbjjpWHrsn94j52E/s320/Mom%2527s+grandma+blanket.jpg" /></a><br />We also got to go to Chris and Becky's wedding! *Cheers* It seemed to go very smoothly, and Becky was stunning in her gown. I had to do this in 3 parts because my computer will freeze if I try to add more than the alotted 5 pictures to each post... I know there is probably a fix for that, but I had my momentum going and needed to post asap, so I just dealt with it. <br /><br />So the party was super great... We started around 6ish, and took pictures as people came. Everyone had a food assignment, and it was all fabulous! I love good food, so thanks to everyone who brought some. Then we had a pirate trivia game that I spent FOREVER putting together... You'd be suprised how much information there isn't.<br /><br />Anyway, we played that (girls won of course :)) and then we just munched and chilled. I'm hoping everyone had a good time!<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEggwrb852ycU5xM3eyb6KYnpiCYJz_UOhwXA0bejOhOkZr0iWIa_tTZD2YX0qlfcqDZxke4AD_LB4CREDLAL_vtsUE8HwNLE6O3NjaO5cNYh5_dDjPvmLsoXVU1q33mbdAW3uOUmPiQo40/s1600/065.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 214px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5536643086156948034" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEggwrb852ycU5xM3eyb6KYnpiCYJz_UOhwXA0bejOhOkZr0iWIa_tTZD2YX0qlfcqDZxke4AD_LB4CREDLAL_vtsUE8HwNLE6O3NjaO5cNYh5_dDjPvmLsoXVU1q33mbdAW3uOUmPiQo40/s320/065.jpg" /></a> Mike, Shayla, Syd and Mark eating dinner.<br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJRHHW62gdBiOM68hJd6-WiqvQxB74c5xBDubZBfejEGBKyujoMu8Ly-WNRFvrF3X3e5WDaH-QNimKj7YeR5gTcZ8noRTreS_TEOpPQuSdjKf7nQkqauLf4VAGl4RHi5WVi-7w0KKjG6k/s1600/070.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 214px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5536643081665973538" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJRHHW62gdBiOM68hJd6-WiqvQxB74c5xBDubZBfejEGBKyujoMu8Ly-WNRFvrF3X3e5WDaH-QNimKj7YeR5gTcZ8noRTreS_TEOpPQuSdjKf7nQkqauLf4VAGl4RHi5WVi-7w0KKjG6k/s320/070.jpg" /></a><br /><div>Mike 'sitting' on mom's lap...
